Stat-Mat: Multipurpose Surgical Instrument Tray
Untitled Document

The Challenge

The current method of setting up instrumentation for a General, Major or Trauma surgical case is time consuming. Set up involves lining the sterile back table with towels, de-stringing the ringed instruments onto another tightly rolled towel and finally, gathering and organizing the forceps, knife handles, scissors, retractors and other loose instruments.  This process can take up to 15 minutes.

Create a device for a General Instrument Kit, which would come from SPD (Sterile Processing Department), all set up with complete instrumentation, sterilized, and ready to use in an instant. This device would eliminate the need for towel rolls and have predetermined placeholders for relocation of instruments, which will dramatically improve the speed and accuracy of the initial and final count.

The solution has arrived... Stat-Mat.
